What tools are you using for ASO?

I get this question a lot, especially when I share my app metrics from App Store Connect or one of the tools I use.

For the sake of efficiency, I’ve decided to answer your question comprehensively and thoroughly in this short article. Buckle up!

Browsing Tools

When I need to research my competition or look for a new app idea, I use the native App Store and Google Play apps to browse the markets.

Even more often, I use ASO by 2Stable to browse multiple stores at once. This tool is very useful, and I use it almost daily.

Fnd.io also comes in handy sometimes to quickly find a specific app I’m looking for. It’s not the most accurate, but it gets the job done.

Keyword Tracking Tools

If you can afford it, use AppFigures. I like this tool the most, and sometimes I use their free plan to check some data. However, since I need to track literally hundreds of different keywords, their offering is too expensive for me.

Overall, this segment of ASO tools is quite similar. You can see a variety of them on my MobileTools.dev directory.

Since I track so many keywords, I use Astro. The author understood correctly that there is a need on the market for a tool offering unlimited keyword tracking. Astro is only $99/year, but it only works locally on your Mac and updates keywords every 24 hours (I wish it could update more often). Astro also offers keyword suggestions, which I use often.

As an alternative, you can try out ASO Suite. It works server-side and offers a bit more data than Astro (ranking tracking, etc.), but it has a keyword limit, which is a deal-breaker for me.

Research Tools

For research and sentiment analysis, I use my own tool, ReadReviews.dev.

Analytics

I use Mixpanel and Amplitude to track my mobile apps. For websites I use Umami.is.
