Sold My First App for 6 Figures 🎉

Cheers ðŸĨ‚

After 1.5y of being a solopreneur, I sold one of my apps for 6 figures 🎉 ðŸĪ‘

It’s not life-changing money (yet), but it’s enough for a few solid years of runway if I decide to do nothing. Obviously, that’s not the case.

This ends the first chapter of my entrepreneurial journey and starts a new one.

I started small by creating numerous apps and exploring various ideas, all while learning as much as possible and sharing my journey on Twitter. It went well, but I don’t think that path is sustainable long term.

I’d like to focus on building bigger brands and apps that reach hundreds of millions of users. This path is usually more risky simply because it carries a higher chance of failure and might require more capital to compete which I finally have now.

That’s chapter two of my plan.

The app was my main revenue driver, so my monthly income dropped significantly. However, I wanted to de-risk my app portfolio and secure some funds. The app grew 100% organically through ASO, which is never guaranteed. With a family of four to support, I’m less keen on taking risks.

I now have enough funds for a few years of runway. I’m not taking time off, though ðŸĪŠ Instead, I want to invest that money in the business. My brother is going to quit his job, and I’ll cover his expenses. I need a second pair of hands to speed up my operations.

I have all the know-how to push things forward; I just don’t have enough time to do it all. AI and Cursor made everything so much faster, but ironically it gave me more to do 😅

We’re going to incorporate and open a mobile venture studio. I’ll probably start building publicly, but we will see.

I’ll continue working on the product side, and my brother will handle marketing. Our first channel will, of course, be short-form (TikTok and IG). I want to reinvest as much revenue as possible from the mobile proceeds.

Stay tuned!
